    Why can I not open HEIC files on Windows?

    HEIC uses the HEVC codec, which Windows only supports with an extra paid extension. JPG opens everywhere.

    Do I lose quality?

    At the default quality of 90 the difference is not visible. Raise it to 95 or more for print.

    No. Every image is decoded and re-encoded inside your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
