Meme generator
Turn your own photo or screenshot into a meme: top and bottom text in white capitals with a black outline, or a white caption bar above the picture. There are no templates here; you bring the picture. It all runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and the download carries no watermark.
Drag a caption on the picture to move it.
How it works
- Drop, choose or paste a photo or screenshot.
- Type the top and bottom text. Add more text boxes if you need them and drag them anywhere on the picture.
- Choose JPG or PNG and download. The meme keeps the picture's resolution.
FAQ
Are there meme templates to pick from?
No. The famous templates are mostly photos and film stills that belong to someone else, so we don't host them. Use your own photos and screenshots, or a template image you already have and are allowed to use.
Is there a watermark?
No. Many free meme generators put their logo in a corner. Nothing is added here: the file you download is your picture and your text, nothing else.
Is my picture uploaded?
No. The picture is opened and drawn in your browser and never sent to a server. That also makes it fine for screenshots of private chats.
Which font does it use?
Anton, a free bold condensed font that looks close to Impact, the classic meme font. Text is set in capitals and shrinks automatically to fit the width, on up to three lines. Scripts Anton doesn't cover, such as Cyrillic or Greek, fall back to a system font.
Can I make GIF or video memes?
No, only still images. An animated GIF opens as its first frame. On phones, very large photos are saved at about 16 megapixels, because that is the largest image mobile browsers can draw.
