Remove metadata from photos

Photos from phones store where and when they were taken, and which device took them. Before you post them online or send them to strangers, strip that data. Each photo is flagged when it contained a GPS location.

    What is EXIF data?

    Information stored inside the image file: camera model, settings, date and time, and often the exact GPS coordinates where the photo was taken.

    Do social networks remove it for me?

    Some do, many messengers, forums, marketplaces and email do not. Removing it yourself is the safe default.

    Does removing EXIF change the photo?

    The picture looks the same. It is re-saved at quality 92, and the orientation is baked in so the photo stays upright.

    Are my photos uploaded?

    No. Every image is decoded and re-encoded inside your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
